On Thursday, October 26th, ECS students traveled to NatWest Markets and UBS in Stamford, CT to meet with their mentors for the first time.
Thanks to SPEF, students and mentors were led in a series of icebreakers ranging from Mentor/Mentee Bingo, to a playful game of “Gotcha,” to a discussion-based activity involving favorite superpowers.
Students were enthusiastic and engaged in the activities, and they bravely put aside any jitters they had about meeting new adults in a corporate environment and dove in to the games. The welcoming mentors made it easy to get going right away and start getting to know new people.
NatWest graciously provided lunch for students and mentors at the end of the session.
ECS students will return to NatWest and UBS at the end of November to continue their mentor sessions. Future meetings will involve coaching on public speaking, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills and networking.
We look forward to going back next month!
